Cowichan knits are back!

Just started adding this year's batch of authentic Cowichan knits that I bought from Emily Smith in Victoria BC. There are some unique styles this time- like the owl scarf listed on our site. I know that Emily had a couple of her knitter friends make some. It's really nice they can spread the work around. It makes me happy to support them and this art form.

It is almost cold enough to wear the poncho she made for me. I love it and always look forward to wearing it. It fills my heart to sell these kinds of crafts. Last year, so many people bought them for Christmas gifts. There is nothing better than selling something useful, handcrafted and Native American/First Nations made!

marriage of the pair, the salmon represents the continuously renewing and bountiful gifts and blessings that we get in life because of the universal representation of the fish and its meaning to many cultures of the world. Today, this precious resource is becoming endangered…
Sorry about that! Weird. I was trying to send out the information that goes with the pictures! The pictures are of a new design by Joe Wilson called Life and Light. Joe on the new design: When you look at the “Sun” in a wider universal perspective, it is like a bright light shining in the darkness. Seen here are two symbolic figures of a male and a female salmon. Seen here in an eternal circle representing the marriage of the pair, the salmon represents the continuously renewing and bountiful gifts and blessings that we get in life because of the universal representation of the fish and its meaning to many cultures of the world. Today, this precious resource is becoming endangered…
